Field Conditional Logic
Field Conditional Logic shows or hides form fields based on what the visitor selects or types — so people only see the questions relevant to them.

What this does
You set rules like “show the Company Name field only when Account Type is Business.” Fields appear and disappear as the form is filled, keeping it short and relevant.
Why it exists: shorter, smarter forms convert better. Conditional logic hides irrelevant questions until they matter.
Typical use cases
- Show “Other — please specify” only when “Other” is chosen.
- Reveal billing fields only for paid options.
- Ask follow‑up questions based on an earlier answer.
How to use it
- Enable Field Conditional Logic on FormFlow → Features (Conditional Logics group).
- In Elementor, open the field you want to control.
- Turn on its conditions and add a rule: choose the field to watch, an operator (is equal, is not equal, contains, is checked, empty, etc.), and the value.
- Pick the action (show or hide) and whether all or any rules must match.
- Preview and test by changing the trigger field.
Operators at a glance
Common operators include is equal / is not equal, greater than / less than (and or equal, on Pro), empty / not empty, is checked / is not checked, contains / does not contain, and starts with / ends with. Advanced operators are part of Pro.
Hidden required fields
A field you have marked Required but which conditional logic has hidden does not block the form. FormFlow removes hidden fields from the submission before Elementor’s own required check runs, so the visitor is never asked for something they cannot see.
This covers all three cases: an individually hidden field, a hidden container, and a field on a hidden step.
Tips & Best Practices
-
Hide by default, reveal on demand. Start fields hidden and show them only when needed.
-
Keep rules simple. One or two conditions per field are easier to maintain than long chains.
-
Use “any” vs “all” deliberately — “any” matches if one rule is true; “all” needs every rule true.
-
Always test by toggling the trigger field in preview.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is field conditional logic free?
Yes — it’s part of Starter (Free). Some advanced operators require Pro.
Can I base a rule on more than one field?
Yes — add multiple rules and choose whether all or any must match.
What actions are available?
Show or hide the field based on the rules.
Does a hidden field still submit?
No. Hidden fields are removed from the submission, so the form submits the visible, relevant answers — and a hidden field marked Required does not block it.
Can I mark a conditionally hidden field as Required?
Yes. While the field is hidden it is removed from the submission, so it never blocks the form. See “Hidden required fields” above.
Can I chain conditions across many fields?
Yes, but keep it manageable — simpler logic is easier to test and maintain.
Do I need Elementor Pro?
Yes, for form fields (the Forms widget is part of Elementor Pro).
